چکیده
introduction: recently, attention has been drawn to the influence of smear layer removal on apical seal, and the relation of root canal filling material with canal wall surface in the presence and absence of the smear layer. the purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the smear layer removal on the apical sealing ability of ah26 sealer. materials and methods: forty extracted human anterior teeth were used in this study. all teeth were decoronated at cej. root canals were prepared; and before obturation, they were randomly divided into two groups (n=17): group a in which the smear layer was left intact, and in group b smear layer was removed. six roots were served as controls. after obturation, microleakage was measured by the electrochemical method for 30 days with 3-day intervals. data were then analyzed by using mann-whitney test. results: based on the results of this study, in the absence of the smear layer, a highly significant decrease of apical leakage was found (p<0.001). conclusion: this study showed that the removal of the smear layer can significantly improve the apical sealing ability of ah26 sealer.

متن کاملThe Effect of Three Different Root Canal Irrigant Protocols for Removing Smear Layer on the Apical Microleakage of AH26 Sealer
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this in vitro study was to assess the apical microleakage of AH26 sealer when three different root canal irrigant regimens were used. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty single-rooted human teeth were randomly divided into three experimental (n=20) and two control groups (n=10). NaOCl was used as irrigant during instrumentation, and apical patency was ensured in all teeth...

متن کاملEffects of diode laser irradiation on smear layer removal from root canal walls and apical leakage after obturation.
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to investigate the rise in temperature in root surfaces during and immediately after diode laser irradiation, to observe morphological changes of root canal wall after irradiation, and to evaluate the apical leakage after irradiation and obturation in vitro. BACKGROUND DATA There have been very few reports on root canal treatment by 980-nm wavelength ...
متن کاملEvaluation of microleakage following application of a dentin bonding agent as root canal sealer in the presence or absence of smear layer.
The aim of this study was to compare the apical leakage of roots obturated with gutta-percha using either an epoxy resin sealer (AH26) or a dual cure dentin binding agent (Excite DSC) as sealer in the presence or absence of smear layer with fluid filtration method. The canals of eighty-six, single-rooted premolars were instrumented until a #40 K-file fit at working length and then randomly divi...
متن کاملBacterial leakage in root canals filled with resin-based and mineral trioxide aggregate-based sealers
BACKGROUND Sealing ability is one of the most important features of endodontic sealers. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the sealing ability of a resin-based sealer with a mineral trioxide aggregate-based sealer. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 60 single-rooted extracted human teeth were randomly divided into two experimental groups (n = 25) and two control groups (n = 5). A...
